This is the MEMPHIS that the Memphis Dream Center is working to create.
We do this by serving in locations throughout Memphis where students can access academic tutoring, mentorship, and cultural enrichment activities. We believe that every child deserves the chance to DREAM BIG and have UNLIMITED OPPORTUNITIES.
For over a decade, we have been meeting the tangible needs in our city and building life-giving relationships. We walk alongside families who are at risk of losing their children to state custody by providing them with essential items like bedding, clothing, diapers, school uniforms, and groceries. We also provide nutritious meals to underserved children and senior citizens in various Memphis neighborhoods.
But our work is about more than just meeting basic needs, it's about helping families to see a brighter future for themselves.
Think about the children who come through our doors, who have been told that they will never succeed. We are determined to change that narrative...to show them that they are worthy of love and support, that they have the POTENTIAL TO ACHIEVE ANYTHING they set their minds to!
We see the hope in their eyes when they walk into our centers and we feel the weight of responsibility to make sure that hope doesn't fade away. We work tirelessly to make sure that our families have the tools they need to succeed, to break the cycle of poverty, and to build a brighter future for themselves.

OUR IMPACT
Here are just a couple of the many stories at the Memphis Dream Center-- stories of HOPE, DETERMINATION and the POWER OF COMMUNITY.
- In 2012, Kathleen and her three children were struggling to make ends meet. She turned to the Memphis Dream Center's FeedMemphis program for help, and it was a lifesaver. But it didn't stop there. Kathleen’s family became deeply involved with the center and its programs. Her children thrived in the Read2Lead after-school program and, with MDC's help, Kathleen herself went back to school and earned her high school diploma. She even landed a job as a truck driver!
- Sherelle and her family were on the brink of despair when they found themselves jobless and homeless in a new city. With no place to call home, they were forced to sleep in their van, struggling to make ends meet. But just when all seemed lost, Sherelle came across a social worker who changed everything for her and her family. The social worker referred Sherelle to the Memphis Dream Center, and with their help, her family was able to secure stable housing in September. But the support from the Dream Center didn't stop there. They provided essential items like clothes, toys, baby clothes, formula, diapers, wipes, twin mattresses and frames, and other furniture and household items. Sherelle said, "If you want it, ask. God is crazy with miracles. This is a blessing. No one has ever helped us this much."
The Memphis Dream Center isn't just about helping individuals like Kathleen and Sherelle. It's about creating a community that EMPOWERS and SUPPORTS each other.
